Join Professor and folklore enthusiast Christine Rai when she leads a hair-raising outdoor walking tour through the center of Poolesville and tells the tales of dark histories and chilling hauntings associated with some of the oldest historic buildings. Tours end with a bonfire, s’mores, and cider at the John Poole House. Be sure to register soon for the Historic Deadly District Poolesville Ghost Tour on Friday, October 24th and Saturday, October 25th at 7:00 and 9:00 p.m. The Friday 7pm tour will be kid friendly; the other tours will be spookier, for ages 14 and up. How intriguing? Our town was globally famous during the Civil War. Do you know why? Poolesville had a pivotal role in Union troops winning at Gettysburg and consequently the war. Do you know why? Ole’ Abe Lincoln had a strong connection to Poolesville. Do you know when? Find out the answers to all this as a docent and have a lot of fun sharing this and very much more history with the public.
If HMD can get just five adults to dedicate themselves to docent just one Saturday or Sunday a month, they can be open every weekend from May to October.
