If you are sending mail to a U.S. military address in the Middle East, it is best to check the USPS service alerts for the latest updates on mail suspensions before mailing.

Since early April 2026, mail delivery to certain U.S. military ZIP codes in the Middle East has been suspended due to ongoing conflict-related disruptions.

The United States Postal Service (USPS) has halted mail service to 27 military ZIP codes in the region, including those aboard warships like the USS Tripoli and USS Abraham Lincoln, which are deployed in West Asia as part of U.S.-led operations near Iranian waters.

The mail suspension is in effect until further notice and is linked to airspace closures, logistical challenges, and transportation instability from the current hostilities between the U.S., Israel, and Iran that have disrupted air and sea routes, making it unsafe or impractical to deliver mail.

Please note that Care packages, food, hygiene items, and personal letters are stranded in secure postal or military facilities and will not be returned to senders.

Some military personnel have been anxiously awaiting these "Care Packages" for weeks hoping to supplement reported food shortages dubbed the "US Hunger Games", on some US military vessels involved in the conflict.

The suspension is not limited to a specific end date; it remains indefinite. USPS and military officials say mail service will only resume once regional airspace is reopened, and transportation stability is confirmed by military commanders.
