In her debut novel, The Dry, Jane Harper introduces us to Federal Agent Aaron Falk, and to the small farming town of Kiewarra, Australia.  Aaron and his father were run out of town 20 years ago.  Aaron reluctantly returns a to attend the funeral of his best childhood friend Luke Hadler and his entire family.   Aaron finds himself engulfed in both the present tragedy and the past secrets of the town he left so long ago.  Aaron agrees to help the local detective investigate what happened to Luke and his family, discovering that there is more to this tragedy than meets the eye.

Jane Harper was born in Manchester in the U.K. She moved to Australia when she was eight, and later, as an adult, became an Australian citizen.  She earned a degree in English and history from the University of Kent.  After graduating, she began a career in journalism.  She worked as a journalist for 13 years before beginning her career as a novelist.  She has been awarded the Gold ABIA for Book of Year and the Davitt Award for The Dry, and the Gold Dagger award by the U.K. Crime Writers’ Association.  She resides with her family in Australia.
