Experience our local history with the Boyds Historical Society at their open house at the Boyds Negro School on April 21st, between 2-4 PM.
This one-room historical school was the only public school that educated Black children in the surrounding area of Boyds from 1895-1936. It served grades first through eighth and was solely funded through tax revenues from Black residents.
The building is the original school and represents an early 20th century, Black, one-room school in Montgomery County. It is still regularly open to the public on the 3rd Sunday of every month starting in April through October. The public is welcome.
