Thursday was a very busy day in Poolesville. Poolesville Seniors made tickets available to a very lucky group who toured the nearby Glenstone Museum. The weather was ideal for a stroll through the 300 acres of meadow dotted with outdoor sculptures. The magnificent Pavilions and Main gallery had many new exhibits since our last visit. You can watch a short video about the Main Gallery artist Vija Celmins.
The same day, The Crossvines, a new project of the Montgomery County Revenue Authority and lead developer Weller Development Company, broke ground at the Poolesville Golf Course. This project will bring a new multi-purpose facility to Poolesville that will feature a custom grape-crushing facility, a casual bistro, a special events venue, and a winery. Anyone planning a future wedding take note.
On Thursday evening the four candidates for County Council in Poolesville’s new District 2 Lorna Forde, Marilyn Balcomb, William Roberts, and Dan Cuda, were at town Hall to answer some tough questions in a debate forum from moderator Link Hoewing and audience members. Attendees had an opportunity to meet and greet the candidates and make some initial assessments. We highly encourage everyone to research the candidates’ positions further on their individual websites. This election is very important to those of us living within the Ag Reserve and may determine the future of the Reserve itself.
