Join us on June 10 at 7 pm when Lon Anderson will discuss his career, tell stories about his travel through life in Montgomery County, and trace the pivotal role Montgomery College has played in the many facets of his career from journalist to political appointee to popular local media talking head.
Mahlon G. “Lon” Anderson, a longtime Montgomery County resident, has been a prolific journalist, a very visible media spokesperson and lobbyist for AAA, award-winning photographer, and photojournalist. Lon has been a public relations professional, spokesman and press deputy for several federal agencies, a federal and state lobbyist, and spokesman for the beer industry. He was the publisher of the County Courier Newspapers in Montgomery County, and a reporter for the Frederick News Post, the News Express in Bowie, and the Moorefield Examiner in West Virginia.
He is a graduate of Montgomery College, the University of Maryland, and American University, from which he holds a master’s degree in public administration. Lon credits Montgomery College with preparing him to launch his multi-faceted career.
