Help WUMCO Keep Food on Shelves
Help your neighbors experiencing food insecurity! Our local food pantry at WUMCO Help continues to see an unprecedented high demand for food assistance. In the first 5 months of 2024, they distributed over 25,000 pounds of food (Scouting for Food brought in a little over 7000 pounds last November). WUMCO does not purchase any of the food, cleaning or personal hygiene items that it distributes to their clients. Instead, the food pantry depends on your donations.
WUMCO needs help to keep food on their shelves for their clients who are mostly area seniors and working-parent families who are food insecure. Anything is appreciated but there is a particular need for: tuna, canned chicken, salmon, Spaghettio’s, mac and cheese, cooking oil, pasta and tomato sauce, jelly, soups, canned vegetables and fruits, rice.
Remember WUMCO when you are grocery shopping, especially take advantage of those BOGOs. Think of the things you need in your own household including cleaning supplies and personal hygiene products.
Donations can be dropped anytime in the box in the Pike & Valega, DDS parking lot or brought to WUMCO (17821 Elgin Rd, Poolesville) weekday mornings 9 until noon. Or bring a food item with you to any in-person event in Speer Hall and place it in the marked bin. Thank you!
