If you missed last week’s Paw Paw Walk, here is another chance to collect these once-a-year treats! Join Jon Wolz on Thursday September 12th at 10:00 am with your bike and a paw paw collection bag. Take a bike ride along the north C&O Canal from Whites Ferry (m 35.5) to Lock 26 (m 39.4), with stops to collect ripe paw paws. We will bike from White’s Ferry to lock 26 which is a distance of four miles. On the way back down the towpath we will stop at different places that have paw paw trees to gather paw paws. We will gather paw paws until we have reached our limit. Round trip is eight miles. Allow for 2 1/2 hours. Bring a bag to carry paw paws and a bike basket will be useful for holding the bag. Wear long pants.
Meet in the White’s Ferry parking lot and we will bike from Whites Ferry along the C&O Tow Path in search of this succulent fruit nicknamed the “poor man’s banana”. We’ll learn how to find and collect these treats and hear about some of the ways you can use them.
Participants need to register on poolesvilleseniors.org prior to the walk. If you need to cancel, please email info@poolesvilleseniors.org. The registration is limited to 15 participants.
