Join the new Book Club for Bridge Players on October 22nd from Noon to 1:00 p.m. The book selection is Bridge Basics 1: An Introduction and Bridge Basics 2: Competitive Bidding by Audrey Grant. (Books available on Amazon)
Participants should read the two chapters before coming to the session. Bring your questions and insights. We will not be playing hands during the session but will follow the discussion group at 1pm with the opportunity for play during the regular Bridge session from 1 to 4:00 p.m. Jane Clark will moderate the discussions of chapters suggested the previous week. Dates and the times for the next “sessions” are as follows:
Tuesday July 30 – 12 pm – Bridge Book Club – Discussion of Chapter 4 in Bridge Basics One by Audrey Grant – Opening the bidding with a minor suit.
Tuesday August 27 -12 pm – Bridge Book Club – Discussion of topics from Bridge Basics One and Two – Review and begin preemptive bidding discussions.
Tuesday September 24 -12 pm – Bridge Book Club – Discussions of topics from Bridge Basics Two.
Tuesday October 29 – 12pm – Bridge Book Club covering Bridge Basics 2, Chapter 3 – The Takeout Double.
Tuesday November 19 – 12 pm – Bridge Book Club – Discussion of topics from Bridge Basics Two

Jane was an avid bridge player in college and was delighted to rediscover the game, sharpen her skills and find others to play with through the Tuesday Bridge Sessions offered by Poolesville Seniors.
Mary Conlon – Mary is a third generation Poolesville bridge player, playing since her teens. Bridge has been a great source of recreation and lasting friendships for her. Mary is a retired teacher and reading specialist. After discovering Audrey Grant’s teaching materials, she found them to be the perfect curriculum guide for the classes at the Poolesville Senior Center. She has taught there and in her home for the past 5 years.
