On Feb. 6, Poolesville Seniors joined a Fair Access* delegation of four, in the ongoing fight to fund a Community Center in Poolesville. Our President, Maria Briancon, testified on behalf of seniors before the County Council. The Council welcomed public comments related to capital improvement funding for two days. Thanks to the groundswell of support that you provide to Poolesville Seniors, lawmakers increasingly appear to be taking note of the absence of County-provided important services available to Poolesville and other area residents.

Please keep subscribing to the Poolesville Seniors’ Postscript newsletter, register to attend our events and activities, and remember to sign in when you arrive. It does make a difference.

*Fair Access is a Town of Poolesville appointed committee formed to raise awareness of the inequity of services available to Ag Reserve residents as opposed to other County residents. They are charged with rallying support from different community factions, including churches, commerce, and civic organizations, and engaging MD lawmakers to effect change. Under the leadership of Link Hoewing, President of Fair Access, the committee has had proven successes. If you’ve seen the massive reconstruction of Poolesville High School, note that Fair Access was at the forefront of this project’s undertaking.
