Join Gwen Haney and Karen Dansby on December 12th at 10:30 a.m. for a trail hike in Seneca Creek State Park. We will hike Greenway and Great Seneca Trail > Great Seneca Trail > Old Pond Trail> Longdraft> Mink Hollow and then a left on to Lake Shore Drive towards the bridge. The roundtrip hike is 5 miles long and takes about 2 hours. The trail is packed dirt with some rocks. Boots are recommended. Water and a snack are advised.   Pretty views along Seneca Creek with a few power lines, but the beauty of the State Park enhances the hike. Easy to moderate hike.

The entrance to Seneca Creek State Park is on Clopper Road. Drive 1 mile and park on the left at Kingfisher parking lot (overflow parking at Chickadee parking lot).  Please arrive on time and ready to start the hike at 10:30 a.m.

Rain date: December 14th. Watch the web site and your email for information in case of inclement weather.

Watch for other hikes in and around Montgomery County for Poolesville Seniors.  Once a month Gwen Haney and Karen Dansby will lead/tailgate a hike for Poolesville Seniors.  The hikes will be 4-6 miles and last approximately 2-3 hours.  A description will be given of the monthly hike with hiking recommendations.

Karen Dansby was born and raised in Arlington, VA. She spent 20+ years in eastern Kentucky, then retired to Sedona, AZ. Karen participated in trail maintenance in Sedona, hiked and participated in Preventive Search and Rescue for almost 10 years at the South and North Rim of the Grand Canyon.  She moved back to Poolesville to be close to family.

Gwen Haney grew up in rural PA but did most of her hiking while living in Arizona, in the mountains and canyons of the southwest. She moved to Maryland 17 years ago to be near family and continues to enjoy being outdoors and on trails.
