This is a great time to remember Community FarmShare which is celebrating its second successful year. Donations now can help to set up the program for the next year’s growing seasons.
The non-profit’s director, Jennifer Freeman envisioned it as “an “Agri – Culture of Caring,” a place where growers and eaters, those with resources and those with fewer resources, can support one another, come to know each other, build bridges, and develop relationships.”
The Poolesville-based initiative connects food insecure families in our communities with local produce farmers. Supporters donate toward farm shares from local farmers (supporting our local table-food farming community). The weekly share of fresh produce is picked up and delivered to food-insecure families in our communities who receive nutritious, local fresh produce.
November is the last month of the regular (Spring to Fall season shares), so now is the perfect time to build the capacity to continue this good work in 2023!
Consider donating to Community FarmShare to help them reach their 2023 goal to deliver more farm shares to Montgomery County families who are most in need of the healthiest produce our farmers are growing! It’s a win-win – supporting families experiencing food insecurity and helping to build a resilient food system by supporting our local farmers.
