SAVE THE DATE! On Monday, July 22 from 7:00 – 9:00 pm Poolesville Seniors will be hosting Allan Stypeck, Senior Member of the American Society of Appraisers, and Kim Stypeck, co-owners of Second Story Books since 1974 and Poolesville residents since 1992, who invite you for an evening of free verbal appraisals. Search your attic, closets, and basement, for books, autographs, other printed material, art and decorative art and bring it to the Poolesville Presbyterian Church, Speer Hall. 

In the meantime, be sure to watch Allan’s past appraisals on the MPT documentary Chesapeake Collectibles: Behind The Scenes premiering on Monday, June 10 at 7:30 pm. It is a co-production of Second Story Books and Maryland Public Television. The long-running series takes viewers on an exclusive journey to meet the appraisers, producers, and guests who bring the show to life. Discover the story behind the creation of the series, revisit unforgettable highlights, and witness the preparations for Season 11, recorded in June 2023 at MPT’s Irene and Edward H. Kaplan Production Studio in Owings Mills, Maryland.

MPT is also inviting memorabilia and antiques fans back to its Owings Mills studio to share the stories of their prized possessions during a two-day taping event on October 5 and 6 for the 12th season of the popular weekly series. Season 12 of Chesapeake Collectibles is scheduled to premiere on MPT in 2025. Paid registration is required to attend the event and includes verbal evaluations of up to three items by a team of expert appraisers. Walk-ins cannot be accommodated. Some items and their owners may be chosen to appear on the series. Information, including attendance details, is available online HERE. The registration period continues through September 20, 2024.
