White’s Ferry is one-of-a-kind on the Potomac River. Until it closed in June 2021, it was the last operating ferry on the Potomac River, transporting vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians from Maryland across to the Leesburg area of Virginia.
If you miss that 20-minute trip to Leesburg and dread the now 45+-minute route, join the Poolesville Fair Access Committee at White’s Ferry on Thursday, December 29TH at 2:00 p.m. for a RALLY FOR THE FERRY! The Rally is intended to send a positive message to our new and incumbent County and State leaders about support for breaking the stalemate and getting the Ferry operational again. Express your frustration that our citizens, town, and local main street businesses have suffered economically since this vital transportation route has been closed.
Make your voices heard and spotlight this situation. Our Governor-elect said in his campaign – “Leave no one behind.” Well, that includes Poolesville!
A Grinch will be there for you to ‘boo’, and a one-dollar commemorative token will be given to the first 250 folks to arrive for the rally. White’s Ferry Grill will be in full operation, serving food and FREE coffee and hot chocolate.
Mark your calendar! Bring the kids and grandkids! Bring the dog! Make signs in support of opening the ferry! Let’s have a great time and make your voices heard!!
More information on this event can be found on the White’s Ferry’s Facebook page, or the Fair Access Facebook page.
