REMEMBER TO VOTE TOMORROW! The 2024 United States federal elections will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Polls will be open from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. During this presidential election year, all 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 34 of the 100 seats in the Senate will be contested. Eleven state gubernatorial and numerous other state and local elections will also be contested. The importance of voicing your vote in November cannot be overstated!

In the upcoming Federal congressional and house elections, Poolesville remains in District 6. Maryland is represented in Congress by eight House of Representatives members and two US Senators. Our District will be voting for one Senator. And one member of the House of Representatives.
This election there is an important measure on the ballot. Question 1 The Right to Protect Reproductive Freedom creates a new article in the Maryland Declaration of Rights to prevent the state from interfering in the right to reproductive freedom.
In 2024, Montgomery County Poolesville is now in Council District 2. District 2 covers most of the Agricultural Reserve as well as Germantown and Damascus. Geographically, it is a very large District.
There are also County-wide elections that are independent of your voting district. There may also be ballot questions needing your approval or disapproval.
In the Statewide elections, Poolesville is part of District 15. In addition to the Governor/Lt. Governor, State Attorney General, Comptroller, Court of Special Appeals and Court of Appeals Judges, there are both State Senate and House of Delegates candidates running for election.
All registered voters are eligible to vote in the General Election. This year, same-day registration is available on Election Day, November 5, 2024. You should verify your voter registration information well before the registration deadline, so you have time to register if something is amiss.
If you requested and received a ballot by mail, you can choose to mail your ballot, but it must be postmarked no later than 8pm on Election Day. If you drop it off, you must do so by 8pm on Election Day. Maryland DOES NOT have internet voting. If you opt to receive your ballot via email, you must still print it out, fill it out, and mail it or drop it off by the 8pm 11/5 deadline.
On Election Day, you may vote ONLY at your assigned district polling location.

In addition to these elections, there are also LOCAL elections on November 5th for members of the Poolesville Town Commissioners. Three positions are open with the four candidates seeking the positions: Bryan Bupp, Jeff Eck (Incumbent), Alan Hobbs, and Ed Reed (Incumbent)
Your county voter registration also serves as your Poolesville voter registration. So, if you are new in town, make sure your county voter registration is up to date. The polling place for Town elections is the Poolesville Town Hall for everyone who lives within the town limits. Voting hours are 7am –8pm on Election Day only. Information about Town Commissioner candidates will be available on the Town website, Poolesvillemd.gov.
We urge you to be informed about all the candidates for office running both State-wide and locally. Your best sources for information may be the candidates’ websites, information from the League of Women Voters or other non-partisan organizations, and candidate forums sponsored by various organizations. Most importantly, learn about the candidates, make your choice, and VOTE!!
