Many thanks, again, to Jon Wolz who led a group of ten on the latest popup walk to Edwards Ferry in search of pawpaws. Although we didn’t find as many as we hoped to, everyone shook the trees and found some. Jon showed us the groves of pawpaw trees, how to look for the ripe ones that already dropped, and how to get other ripe ones to fall. Along the way he pointed out historical structures such as the mercantile store and the lock keeper’s house at Edwards Ferry. The group stood on a wall at the Goose Creek River Lock that allowed boats from Virginia to enter the C&O Canal. Keep an eye out for the next popup walk with Jon.
