Mother Nature provided the perfect weather for our Great Falls Pop-Up Walk last Wednesday. While the drive down River Road and Falls Road was delightful, the real views began at the park on the top of the Overlook Trail. The climb up the “3-4 Story” hill was well worth the view of the tow path, canal, and river. Once descended, we observed the lock house and headed for Olmstead Island to listen to the rush of the water and to view the magnificent force of the falls. Jon Wolz shared his knowledge of the workings of the canal, the fern and the fauna and regaled us with stories of the families of the lockkeepers.
Be sure to watch for more amazing outings led by this amazing volunteer.
