Poolesville Area Chamber of Commerce (PACC) with the Monocacy Lions Club has announced their 32nd annual Poolesville Day 5K Run/Walk, Saturday, September 21, 8 a.m. Proceeds from the 5K (3.1 miles) are used to support our community. 

Runners and walkers of all levels of ability are welcome and encouraged to participate. The gently rolling racecourse travels through the quiet neighborhoods of historic Poolesville, Maryland.

Our daily, weekly, and monthly activities and events keep area 50+ residents mentally, physically, and socially active. On the morning of Saturday, August 3rd, 2024, several dozen Poolesville Seniors joined with American Legion Post 247 and British allies to successfully complete the annual Operation River Crossing. Approximately 58 hardy folks of all ages assembled at Calleva Farm for insightful historical background on White’s Ford, the site of Civil War troop river crossings, provided by historians Jon Wolz and Jim Poole.

Poolesville Seniors is taking part in the WUMCO SUMMER FOOD FOR KIDS program for local children who are not receiving free and reduced breakfast and lunch while school is out this Summer. Astronomers and stargazers should look to the sky in July and August for the Perseid Meteor Showers. Though you might see ‘shooting stars’ on any moonless night from July 17th to August 24th, the Perseids, a trail of space debris from the comet Swift-Tuttle, will reach their peak on the night of August 11th– 12th.
