Ongoing COVID Policy

2022-08-01T02:42:24-04:00

The Biden administration recently advised renewed caution about COVID-19, emphasizing the importance of booster shots for those who are eligible, and recommending mask wearing indoors. This reflects the appearance of new highly transmissible variants which are rapidly spreading, and more contagious than their predecessors. Staying up to date on your COVID-19 vaccines will provide the best protection against severe outcomes.

Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, has […]

Take Me Home Clopper Roads

2022-08-01T02:30:49-04:00

While most people think of John Denver and West Virginia when they hear “Take me Home, Country Roads”, its actual origin is much closer to home. The song was written by Bill Danoff and Taffy (Mary Catherine) Nivert, and completed with the help of John Denver.

Danoff was studying Chinese at Georgetown University, on track for a Foreign Service career. At night he was a doorman at one of the coolest small […]

Our Virtual Tour of Dancing Leaf Farm

2022-08-01T02:10:03-04:00

Many thanks to Dalis Davidson who graciously showed us around her Dancing Leaf Farm and invited us into her fiber studio to observe her vertically integrated business that we playfully titled “Sheep to Shawl”. Dalis raises her own wool sheep, and explained the process of harvesting the wool, from sheering, carding, washing, spinning it into skeins, dying, and using the yarn in shawls, scarves, mittens, and other wearable art. She also demonstrated the Numo felting process where the […]
