The next day, without the aid of social media or cell phones, Operation Dynamo began. Despite initial skepticism, the following eight days would prove to be one […]

Byline: Charlotte Boucher

The upper county is a great place to raise kids: open spaces, wonderful schools, and a generous, caring community. But our distance from more urban areas and the resources they provide can pose real problems, especially for our young people.  They often can’t drive yet, or if they can, they need access to a vehicle. And it takes at least a half hour to get to 270, anyway.

Asian American, Native Hawai’ian, Pacific Islander Heritage Month

2024-05-05T11:28:38-04:00

Asian American, Native Hawai’ian, Pacific Islander Heritage Month was created by a joint congressional resolution in 1992. May coincides with two key milestones, the arrival of the first Japanese immigrants on May 7, 1843, and the contribution of Chinese immigrants to the transcontinental railroad, completed on May 10, 1869. In 2021, a presidential proclamation expanded this to include Native Hawaiians.

The 2024 theme, “Bridging Histories, Shaping Our Future”, is an homage […]
