Denali National Park and Preserve has one of the most iconic mountains and is among the most complex protected areas in the world. Join us May 6th @7pm with recent Denali Superintendent and current Poolesville resident Tom Medema for an exploration of the unique history, resources, and management challenges of Alaska’s renowned national park.
Tom is also a co-founder of Rally for Rangers, a nonprofit organization that personally delivers 15 new motorcycles across amazing and difficult terrain to park rangers around the world in remote locations such as Mongolia, Nepal, and Patagonia. He will share photos and video of the incredible journeys through these far-flung lands to protect our planet.
Tom Medema is the acting Associate Director for Education programs for the National Park Service. He has worked as a park ranger in Yosemite, Mount Rainier, and Rocky Mountain National Parks over a 30-year career in parks. He currently works at the national NPS headquarters in D.C. and lives in Poolesville with his wife Cindy, a 4th grade teacher.
