He told many humorous stories that he undercovered in his exhaustive search for the exact location of “The Marble Quarry” used for the columns in the capital. Tidbits and other information about Thomas Jefferson, Napoleon, the War of 1812, La Fayette, political incompetence, spies, rockets, geology, 1800’s commerce, Lincoln’s Spot Resolution delighted the audience. He will also discuss the step-by-step invasion of the British from the Patuxent River to D.C., the methods the British used to burn the stone buildings, how stone was quarried in the early 19th century, and how the stone was transported to D.C. for carving.
