Welcome to a new segment we’re calling PS Fan of the Month. Each month, we randomly select a loyal follower, who attends our presentations or participates in our activities. To appreciate their support of Poolesville Seniors, we want to get their input by asking a few questions to learn better ways of enriching our program for all of you – our important loyal fans.
Meet Jack Templeton – a retiree with an almost 40-year career as a Naval civil engineer, longtime (over 30 years) resident of Poolesville and “plank owner” (a term from the Navy that references a first at something).
Jack is most interested in learning about local history and gardening. He mentioned how much he enjoys our 3rd Thursday of the month presentations with Kenny Sholes of Historic Ag Reserve Properties. Since first discovering PS from a post that we had on the Town of Poolesville Community Facebook Page, Jack has been intrigued to learn more about the Civil War and its ties to our area. He’d like to know more about the American Revolutionary War and learn more about his own family’s roots in Virginia and Pennsylvania too.
In the meantime, zooming into our Thursday night virtual offerings with Kenny and our other history-based programs has worked out well in the Templeton household. When Jack is zooming with us, his wife and daughter can watch what they want on television.
Jack is enjoying his time with PS and has encouraged his wife, an avid reader (she reads 30 titles in a year) to join our monthly book club.
We were so pleased to get to know our First Fan Jack – the “plank owner” of this new initiative and appreciate his input – Thanks, Jack!
You don’t need to wait to be ‘Fan of the Month’ to help us improve our programming. You can contact us anytime at info@poolesvilleseniors.com if you have suggestions for an event that you would love to attend.
