Let’s all sing! “June is bustin’ out all over! All over the meadow and the hill! Buds’re bustin’ outta bushes and the rompin’ river pushes ev’ry little wheel that wheels beside the mill!” (with apologies to Rodgers and Hammerstein).
Yes! It is June and Poolesville Seniors is celebrating the great outdoors! We have all been cooped up by the pandemic and we are ready to breathe the fresh air. In May we got a taste for the National Parks by visiting Denali with Tom Medema and we learned about raised bed gardening. Now is the time to put what we learned into action.
If you are a gardener, give the raised bed gardening a try! If you love walking and hiking, our area offers an abundance of choices. You can walk on the canal at White’s Ferry, Edward’s Ferry and the Monocacy Aqueduct, you can visit the McKee Beshers Wildlife Management Area off River Road, you can stroll through our own parks on the paved paths in Halmos and Steven’s parks, or take a hike up Sugarloaf. Have a cookout! Sit and relax on your porch or lawn. Whatever your fitness level and preference, you can find a reason to be outdoors.
