I.J. Hudson, former long-time WRC-TV reporter, had 32 years of broadcast experience in front of the camera as a television reporter in San Diego, Green Bay, Chicago, and Washington. He reported on stories ranging from politics to public health to technology. He has received six Emmy awards and numerous others for general assignment and feature reporting. He started his broadcasting career after leaving the Navy, when there really was “film at 11.”  He became the first broadcast reporter in the Washington, D.C. area to regularly cover technology and technology issues in his Digital Edge reports. In retirement IJ has shifted his focus behind the camera to nature photography.

IJ always enjoyed photography, from the days of black and white, through slides, to today’s digital and cellphone photography. Now that he has more time on his hands, he explores stretches of the C&O Canal and rural areas of Montgomery County Maryland to watch, photograph, and take in nature.

He has served on the board of the non-profit, Arts on the Block, and continues to work with a group that raises scholarship money for students at the Universities at Shady Grove. He is a long-time friend of Poolesville Seniors and has written a series, Focus on Photography for the Postscript newsletter.

IJ Hudson has donated one of his stunning nature photographs to the Poolesville Seniors Heart ‘n Soul Virtual Auction beginning February 11th. In addition, he has offered his time and expertise for a one-hour nature photo shoot lesson along the canal. You will find this under the Adventure and Activities section on the auction site. Don’t miss the chance to bid one or both of these wonderful items.
