We are so grateful to Laura Bechtel who, as Acting Senior Librarian at the Maggie Nightingale Library, not only stepped in as the replacement presenter for our Thursday Genealogy & You event. Her broad-based knowledge of the public library’s genealogy research system was invaluable to those of us seeking past family connections. We learned that you could locate someone even with limited information like an approximate name and location! There are so many free resources available to make these discoveries too! Laura showed us U.S. Census records, City Directories, Wills and Probate, Newspapers, Immigration Records or even Revolutionary War Pension records.
