Vietnam: A Marine’s Chronicle of Change

Join our Veteran’s Day presentation in-person on November 16th at 7:00 p.m. featuring longtime Poolesville resident Butch Mezick.  Butch will discuss his service in the Marines, and the changes he experienced as related in his book, “Vietnam: A Marine’s Chronicle of Change”. Included are his tour of duty in Vietnam, from the challenges of boot camp to his assignment as the leader of a combined action team of marines embedded with Vietnamese villagers.   

“Butch” Byron A. Mezick (Sergeant U.S. Marine Corps) served in Vietnam with Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 4th Marines before serving with Headquarters Company, 3rd Marines, 3rd Marine Division as the squad leader of Combined Action Platoons in Loc Dien and Loc Bon villages. Following his enlistment in the Marine Corps, Byron began a 35-year career as a broadcast technician with NBC News in NW Washington, DC. Byron and his wife Diana have been married for more than fifty years and have two daughters, Brenda Mezick and Bethany Rantfl.
