Studio and Artwork Tour with Judith Guy

Join Virginia artist Judith Guy on June 30th at 7:00 pm as she leads us on a virtual tour of her studio and artwork. Judith concentrated on photography and printmaking at the University of Virginia, and in her graduate work at the University of Delaware.

Her studio, however, is full of paintings exploding with color. From breezy beach scenes and bursting flowers to ordinary household items, the canvases will delight the viewer. She recently returned to some black and white creations using an iPad to explore images with the sensibilities of monoprints and dry points without ever needing a print shop.

This event is sure to be a treat for the eye.

Judith Guy took her first art class when I was 12, from a neighborhood watercolorist who had also taught her to see rather than to draw. That’s why she spends a lot of time painting in her kitchen, struck by the light, shadow, and space of her most familiar objects.  A trip to France in 1997 reminded her of everything that she loved about color. Since then, she has been working on images of ordinary time, domestic moments, and the things and people around her. \
