Everyone likes to play with trains! All aboard with Poolesville model railroader Brian Sheron on September 2nd at 7pm as he virtually shares his HO layout of the Long Island Rail Road. The layout covers over 300 sq. ft. in three rooms: the Port Jefferson Branch; City Terminal; and the Atlantic Branch. The layout includes the buildings of NYC, Sheron Marina, an overhead EL train, barges, bridges, more than 800 automobiles and trucks, and roughly 2,000 figures. Over the past 30 years, Brian built this re-creation of the busiest commuter railroad in America. This special night is of interest to train lovers and kids of all ages!
Brian Sheron has lived in Poolesville since 1974. He is an engineer, with a PhD in Nuclear Engineering who retired as the Director of Research at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission in November of 2015. When not working on his trains, Brian enjoys playing the banjo and performing in a local band.
Brian has been actively involved with the model railroading hobby since 1980. His HO scale layout, which models the Long Island Rail Road circa 1948, 1954, and 1964, was featured in the September 1997 issue of Railmodel Journal. In 2011, he became the 469th worldwide recipient of the Master Model Railroader (MMR) Certificate. The National Model Railroading Association (NMRA) has conferred only 686 of these certificates since 1961.
