Join Jon Wolz for a Poolesville Seniors sponsored Pop-Up Walk to White Fords Fort!
Meet @ noon at the Dickerson Conservation Park parking lot (20700 Martinsburg Road). Walk down to mile 39.12 and cross the canal. The path goes up a hill to a
field. The walk goes about a half mile through the field to the fort. This was a Union Civil War fort that was constructed in the fall of 1862 and was occupied by the 10th Vermont Regiment until June 1863. There are nice views of the Potomac River from the fort and the top of the hillside. This is a moderate walk and should last about three hours. Round trip is about three miles.
