Join us February 9th at 3:30pm for an outing in Frederick with popular Civil War presenter, Brad Stone, for a personal tour of the National Museum of Civil War Medicine. The Group Rate: $9.50 per person for the museum will be collected at registration.
Following the approximately 1-hour tour, our group will head down to Carol Creek to see the lighted boats in the Sailing through the Winter Solstice display. Many restaurants are nearby for those who wish to stay and dine. Parking close by both the museum and the boat display is available at the Carol Creek Garage in Frederick adjacent to the library.
The National Museum of Civil War Medicine is a U.S. historic education institution located in Frederick, Maryland. Its focus involves the medical, surgical and nursing practices during the American Civil War (1861-1865).
Brad Stone is a volunteer at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine in Frederick, MD and aboard the USS Constellation in Baltimore Harbor. Over the past few years, he has developed presentations on an assortment of Civil War-related topics, four of which he has presented to Poolesville Seniors. His talks have been given at a wide variety of venues including the Gettysburg Heritage Center, the Antietam Battlefield National Park and the U.S. Navy Museum at the Navy Yard in Washington, DC. A couple of his talks have also been televised nationally on C-SPAN3 American History TV.
