Music in the Afternoon

Loading Events

Join local singer/songwriter Bill Mattes on September 13th at 1:00 p.m. for a fun-filled afternoon of song in Speer Hall at the Presbyterian Church. Bill’s humorous lyrics and melodies will raise your spirits and send you away humming a tune or two. Be prepared to sing along with us and enjoy the afternoon.

Bill has had a career as a toxicology research director as well as having a life-long love of music and guitar. Over the decades he penned serious and humorous songs in different styles, bluesy, jazzy, and a few spiritual in nature. He registered the copyright for 11 songs from his diverse “catalog”, including “Shower Song” (written in grad school), “Ode to Pizza Man” (written while a postdoctoral fellow at Johns Hopkins with small kids), and “Too Much Road” (written a couple of years ago while he was directing a research group at FDA’s labs in Arkansas). Bill lives in Poolesville and is a member of the Poolesville Presbyterian Church Choir.

Please stay after the Music afternoon for the Bridge and Other Games gathering from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m
