Join Claudia Golenda, Vice President and one of the archivists for the Boyds Historical Society on February 9th. This special Black History Month presentation will cover the history and preservation of the Boyds Negro School, the only school for children of color in that area between 1896 and 1936 

Presenter Bio: Claudia Golenda is currently the vice president and one of the archivists at the Boyds Historical Society.  She gives tours of the Boyds Negro School during Open Houses and is involved in grant writing for the Boyds Historical Society.  She retired from the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research after 30 years of working on vaccine development.  After retirement she worked for a government contractor for 6 years and wrote grants for clinical trials that were related to vaccine development for diseases important to the military. She has lived in Boyds for more than 20 years.
