Learn to dance Hip-Hop on the 3rd Monday of the month with Kim Harris. Beginning on Monday September 16th at 6:30 p.m., enjoy an entertaining evening practicing one complete hip-hop dance each session. The first 15-20 minutes of the hour will be spent learning the steps and then the dancing will begin! Music has been carefully curated by Kim, so no profanity, just the joy of disco and block party dancing.
“Woot woot, put your hands in the air! Woot woot, like just don’t care!” Let’s get this party started!
Originating in the South Bronx, New York City in the late 1970’s, during tough times for the poorer parts of urban America, Hip-Hop, also called Rap and Disco Rap, is an American art form integral to the African American community and experience. It became a best-selling music genre in the mid 1990’s and a top selling genre by 1999. Hip-Hop has influenced many other genres of popular music including neo soul, nu metal, and R&B. It impacts fashion, culture and language.
