The hike is 3.6 miles roundtrip along the C&O Canal towpath. Once at the location on the towpath where the quarry is located, there is a hill that will need to be climbed and it is about 75 feet high. The quarry can be seen from the towpath for those who do not wish to climb the hillside. Also, for those who stay on the towpath, binoculars could be used to view the quarry.
The walk is moderate and the duration of the walk will be about two hours.
