Poolesville Seniors is proud to provide a special history lesson about the tiny settlements of freed slaves that surround the Poolesville area, revealing both the struggles and contributions of these communities.

Our Speaker

Our historical guide, Poolesville resident James “Skip” Etheridge,  is the son of a D.C. police officer and a descendant of one of the founders of the Sugarland Community. Skip is a retired Maryland state trooper, a former security officer at Georgetown University and the Security Team Leader at Poolesville High School.
