Join Keith LaMar Wilkins, Sr. on September 23rd at 7 pm as he uses artifacts and family stories to trace the history of families from the Big Woods area of Dickerson. To take advantage of the better and safer schools in Poolesville, Keith grew up in the 70’s and 80’s spending the school year with his maternal grandparents Benjimin and Beulah Randolph in Dickerson, and summers with his parents Preston and Betty Jean Wilkins in Prince George’s County. His years at Howard University immersed him in Black History and inspired an interest in his personal family history which he will share with us.
Keith attended and played football at Howard University for two years before transferring to West Virginia Wesleyan College where he graduated in 1989 with a degree in Telecommunication. He has worked in the communications world for over 30 years and owns a small business that focuses on security and home entertainment.
Keith has 5 children and a fiancé. His mother lives on a neighboring property in Big Woods and they talk every day.
