Join Bernie Jankowski on Thursday, December 1st at 7:00p.m. for an evening of poetry exploring the wonders of our unique and beautiful area. Jankowski — through writing, hiking, biking, canoeing, fishing, and bird watching — has explored the Ag Reserve for the last four decades plus. Two books have been inspired by these explorations. Shadows of the Monocacy explores the way light and dark dance, rivers, nature, mud, stillness, colors, and contemplation. Luminous Mud, selected “Best Chapbook” by The Montserrat Review, celebrates the sounds, senses, and circumstances that shape our lives and memories.
Both books also illuminate a wholehearted collaboration with painter Calvin Edward Ramsburg. Ed, a fourth-generation Frederick native, is also tied to the images, seasons, and sustenance of our region’s natural allure. Ed’s paintings will be featured throughout the evening. Together, they capture the spirit of the evocative places we call home.
Enjoy the poetry, art, snacks, drinks and social gathering. Get a head start on holiday shopping. Several of his books will be available for sale and signing.
