Zoom in to our conversation on May 27th at 7pm with the Honorable Connie Morella who will discuss her educational career at Poolesville High School and Montgomery College and her political career in Annapolis and Washington. Connie taught at Montgomery College’s Rockville campus from 1970 to 1986. She was a member of the Montgomery County Commission for Women. She served in the Maryland House of Delegates for 8 years and in the US House of Representatives for 16 years.
Born in Massachusetts, Connie Albanese graduated from Boston University in 1951. She moved to Montgomery County with her husband Anthony Morella in 1954. Her first job in education was teaching at Poolesville High School. Connie and Anthony raised their own three children and helped raise her sister’s six children. After receiving her MA from American University in 1967, Connie taught at Montgomery College’s Rockville campus from 1970 to 1986.
Morella built her political career by emphasizing those issues of greatest concern to her constituents and spent many hours in her district attending functions and making friends. In July 2003, President Bush nominated Connie to be U.S. Ambassador to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
Now retired but never “retiring”, Connie lives in Bethesda.
