Are you over 50 and a primary caregiver for family or friends? If so, the Commission on Aging would like to talk to you.

The Commission on Aging (CoA) will be hosting a Public Forum on Wednesday May 21. The Forum will bring together public policy makers, county staff, public officials, and those in the caregiver community to discuss the challenges of caregiving. In addition to conversation, the CoA seeks to facilitate connections among participants and collective problem-solving—leading to development of and/or investment in policies and programs to better support caregivers and “revalue” the role of caregivers.

To better understand the range of real experiences of caregivers in the county, CoA commissioners are conducting interviews. They are interested in talking to Montgomery County residents 50+ who are / have been caregivers for family or close friends. They are particularly interested in understanding the challenges of “sandwich” caregivers—those caring for spouses or parents while simultaneously caring for children or grandchildren.

If you are a caregiver for family or friends and are willing to share your experience, the CoA would like to talk to you.

Please help the Commission on Aging by participating in interviews. Contact Kate Stein (katelstein@yahoo.com) or Vernell Dewitty (bdcliff@gmail.com).
