Julius Rosenwald was the son of Jewish German immigrants. He was born in 1862 in Springfield, IL, and lived just a block from Abraham Lincoln’s family home. His uncle Julius Hammerslough was at Lincoln’s inauguration and accompanied Lincoln’s body back to Springfield after his assassination. African American Schools of Western Montgomery County

On Wednesday, March 15, 7 p.m. Historic Medley District (HMD) will host a presentation at the Old Town Hall/Bank Building in Poolesville on the African American schools of western Montgomery County before desegregation in 1956.
