Last month the Montgomery County African American Health Program (AAHP) held a two-day Covid testing and vaccine event at the Poolesville Memorial United Methodist Church.  They not only provided those much-needed Covid services, but also distributed boxes of Covid safety equipment, shopping bags of non-perishable food, and a wide selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. WUMCO Help benefited from the excess provisions.

Watch for their return of AAHP to Poolesville before the December holidays. These services will be free and open to all residents of the Upper County who wish to be tested or vaccinated for Covid.

The AAHP mission is to eliminate health disparities and improve the number and quality of years of life for African Americans and people of African descent in Montgomery County, MD.

AAHP focuses on six major health areas: infant mortality, HIV/AIDS, diabetes, oral health, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. Services provided include outreach, health education, support groups, and nurse case management. The program is staffed by a wide range of healthcare professionals, including physicians, registered nurses, health educators, and community outreach personnel.
