Our Montgomery County Public Schools have an innovative program administered by The Foundations Office. The Foundations Office is composed of four separate non-profit educational foundations that support students in the Automotive, Construction, Information Technology, and Restaurant and Hospitality Management industries.

The programs provide classroom instruction, lab settings, and authentic real-world career experiences for students at Thomas Edison HS of Technology and Seneca Valley HS.

While these programs offer great experience for the students, we can all benefit. Several times a year, The Automotive Trades Foundation (ATF) and The Information Technology Foundation (ITF) offer the results of all this student learning for sale to the public.

On December 14th the student refurbished cars and computers from these programs will be on sale at a student-run ATF mini dealership at Gaithersburg High School, 101 Education Blvd., Gaithersburg, MD. Interested parties can view cars from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and request test drives until 10:45 a.m. Participants will enter a lottery to choose their favorite car beginning at 11:00 a.m. You must be present for lottery and a $100 deposit will hold your choice temporarily until you can take delivery. The cars will be ready to roll off the lot on Saturday.

These computers have been thoroughly inspected and refurbished by students in the Network Operations program. A new operating system has been installed on each machine. Or, for experienced users that want to experiment with Linux or other operating systems, the same system can be purchased with a blank wiped hard drive. Either way, systems come complete with a flat-panel LCD monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speakers. Read further information at Information Technology Foundation

If you meet eligibility requirements and are in need of a loan to get your computer, consider applying for an Educational Systems FCU Visa Credit Card.

You may be able to get a cash advance to purchase your computer.
