Join Julianne Mangin from Montgomery History on March 28th at 7:00 p.m. She will discuss how a stone retaining wall led her to discover a forgotten early 20th century female commune that was transplanted from Texas, to D.C., to Colesville in Montgomery County. The group, who shunned organized religions and supported women’s suffrage, was an entrepreneurial example for women everywhere.
Presenter Short Bio:
Julianne Mangin retired from the Library of Congress after thirty years as a librarian, with impressive research skills. She used those skills to research her own family mystery, this presentation and she received an award from Montgomery Preservation, Inc. for her research, documentation of and advocacy for the researching the history of the 100-year-old Aspin Hill Pet Cemetery in Montgomery County, her work was also featured in an article in the Washington Post.
