Join Poolesville Seniors on Friday June 23rd at 9:15 a.m. for the 55+ BBQ Bonanza, a fun-filled day trip to Smokey Glen Farm in Gaithersburg! (sponsored by Montgomery County Recreation) A BBQ lunch is included (with vegetarian options) and there will be games and activities including Bingo, yoga, Zumba, crafts, miniature golf, horseshoes, and more. This BBQ Bonanza event will occur rain or shine. Smokey Glen Farm has plenty of covered pavilions to accommodate in case of inclement weather. 

Montgomery County is providing bus transportation for the Poolesville Seniors group, meeting at 9:15 a.m. at Poolesville Town Hall and returning by 2:30 p.m.   

County registration for this event started Monday May 8th at 9:00 a.m. Space is limited. Poolesville Seniors has fewer than 15 places left. Registration ends on May 31st or when spaces are filled. Poolesville Seniors will cover the $5 cost for the first 50 who sign up using the directions below.  The bus capacity is based on this count. You must be 55 or older, per the county. Prepare for the registration by creating a Montgomery County Recreation Active Montgomery account using steps 1- 4 below: 

On the registration site, you will need two unique pieces of information: the Activity number: R07107_517 and a passcode: PoolesvilleSeniors! (note the caps and !) 

Registration directions for Poolesville Seniors to register for the BBQ Bonanza at Smoky Glen Farm, June 23, 10-2 p.m.: 

  1. Go to ActiveMontgomery.Org (If you already have an Active Montgomery account, sign in and skip to step 5) 
  2. In the top right-hand corner, click “My Account, Sign In/ Register.“ At the bottom of this page, click “Don’t Have an Account, Sign Up Now.“ 
  3. Fill out the criteria to create your account. 
  4. After you put your birthday in, be sure to press done  and continue filling out the fields.
  5.  Once your account has been created, and you are signed into the account, click “search” and then “activity search.” 
  6. Under activity number or keyword search, type in R07107_517 and press search or click this link here  The Link will be active beginning at 9:00 a.m. on May 8th.
  7. Click on “55+ BBQ Bonanza Poolesville“ 
  8. Add the event to the Selection List. 
  9. Add your selection to the Cart. 

  10. Answer the Questions 

      a. In the questions, it will ask for the special code, meal options, bus transportation, etc…  

           b. For the first question: Enter Registration Passcode type in  PoolesvilleSeniors! (note the caps and !)

            This is what will make your charge for the event $0.
