DESCRIPTION:Join the Poolesville Seniors Walking Club on Mondays at 7:30 am. We will meet at the flagpole on Whalen Commons (in front of Town Hall). We will walk at a leisurely pace around town on a route chosen by the group..   \nWe will meet twice a week on Mondays at 7:30 a.m. and Fridays at 7:30 a.m. at the flagpole. We will explore the town and our various park trails.  \nPlease register below and complete the emergency contact and liability release forms. Depending on the group's needs\, interests\, and the weather\, we anticipate that the meeting times may adjust over time and with the weather.  \nPS Walking Club

DESCRIPTION:In line with our theme to Stay Active\, Poolesville Seniors offers Tai Chi every Tuesday at 10:30am with our instructor\, Maureen Ivusic! \nThis is a hybrid event to be held at Poolesville Memorial United Methodist Church 17821 Elgin Rd\, Poolesville. This class will be live streamed using Zoom technology so you can join in the activity from the comfort of your own home if you can’t join us in-person. Please register for the class whether you choose to attend in-person or online. \nMaureen is temporarily adding a chair Tai Chi component to the class for those who might need a chair to steady themselves or for seated Tai Chi. Come out to see if these accommodations suit you. \nClass will be online only if MCPS -Montgomery County Public Schools cancel school – CODE RED.

SUMMARY:Battle of Monocacy 160th Anniversary
DESCRIPTION:Join Brad Stone on Tuesday July 9th at 7:00 pm to mark the 160th anniversary of the Battle of Monocacy fought in Frederick\, MD. It was one of the most important\, yet least known battles of the Civil War. On that day\, a small Union force hastily cobbled together by Union General Lew Wallace – and outnumbered nearly three-to-one – miraculously held back the invading Confederate army headed toward Washington\, D.C. for an entire day – just enough time for the Union to reinforce the fortifications of the capital. Join popular historian\, Brad Stone for another of his enjoyable presentations about the history of our nation.  \nLocation: Poolesville Presbyterian Church Sanctuary\, 17800 Elgin Rd. (109)  \nHelp us show area youngsters that Seniors care!  Shop the grocery sales and BOGOs and bring your items to any Poolesville Seniors event this Summer. We will have a collection box or bin labeled WUMCO SUMMER FOOD FOR KIDS at future events until schools reopen at the end of August. Read about this special program on our blog. \nBrad Stone is a volunteer at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine in Frederick\, MD and aboard the USS Constellation in Baltimore Harbor. Over the past few years\, he has developed presentations on an assortment of Civil War-related topics. While stationed in Louisiana\, serving in the Army\, Jeff wandered into a magic shop by chance and changed his life. After purchasing a trick and performing it for his friends\, their reaction had him HOOKED.   \nMagic was Jeff's hobby until he married\, and his wife arranged his first gig.
