Jon Wolz will lead a group of no more than 15 participants from Pennyfield Lock to Violette’s Lock and back along the C&O Canal towpath. The round trip is approximately 5 miles. Join Poolesville Seniors and Glenn Wallace to participate in a discussion of the Montgomery County Cemetery Inventory. This ambitious project documented the existence of and the historic, cultural, and artistic value of every cemetery in the county. Glenn will describe the process of coordinating the volunteers who visited and assessed 324 known cemeteries throughout the county. The resulting inventory is vital to the county planners’ ability to track and protect these burial grounds from development for future generations.
